Pacific Energy Solutions, Co. specializes in utility design and engineering services for transmission and distribution voltage levels for both underground and overhead circuits. This includes involvement in all aspects of a successful project, from detailed design and engineering, to coordination with other departments, to support while the project is in construction. We use our experience to create innovative solutions for some of the most intricate and unique design projects encountered at a utility and are consistently working with all affected departments to ensure a smooth project workflow and delivery of a first-class product. Established in 2015, Pacific Energy Solutions is staffed with 6 employees who have over 100 years of combined utility design experience. Below you will find a breakdown of types of projects and tasks included in the design process and a brief description of our experience in each:
Our Staff has extensive experience with Transmission pole replacement for compliance meeting GO95 and Cal ISO requirement. Members of our staff were one of the first to integrate the use PLS-CADD with PLS-POLE to provide high level structural analysis to single and multi-pole structures for a large high-profile utility in the Southern California area as an expected deliverable in the compliance area.
We have completed small segment transmission line design and engineering for transmission lines of 138kV and less, from new line planning to rebuilt transmission line segments to meet NERC compliance. Optimized structure placement for minimized structure height and ground clearance requirements under extreme line load conditions.
We have experience with designing distribution job packages in coordination with related transmission projects (most commonly wood to steel projects for system fire hardening). This requires more in-depth coordination between the transmission design and the affected distribution underbuild design because the designs are typically moving in a parallel path.
A majority of our experience is in overhead electric design, where we excel in both work order design and advanced PLS-CADD modeling, including pole modeling using PLS-Pole for wood, steel, and fiberglass poles. We are also well-versed in unit-based design software, O-CALC, AutoCAD, and all other common design tools.
We have worked on projects where we are relocating an overhead or underground power line, working to ensure that circuit operation and customer services are either unchanged or improved while work is coordinated and completed.
We specialize in providing comprehensive Applicant Design services for projects requiring connection to San Diego Gas & Electric (SDG&E) infrastructure. Our expert team ensures that all designs meet SDG&E's stringent standards and regulatory requirements, facilitating a smooth approval process.
We perform reviews of engineering designs and work order packages for other contractors, as well as peer review internal designs to ensure compliance, accuracy, and constructability.
We provide 2D technical CAD drafting support for drafting only services for Transmission and Distribution electric design as well as electric utility distribution standards documentation using AutoCAD. In addition, we also provide 3D technical CAD drafting from individual 3D part modeling to 3D assembly to technical standards document creation and upgrade for the utility industry.
Our team provided technical expertise for distribution electric utility sector for both standards of construction. We also provide research services for technical data used in both distribution electric standards of construction and also design.
Mr. Richardson has over 20 years of experience in the utility industry in both line construction and design and is the President and Co-Owner of Pacific Energy Solutions. As a journeyman lineman, he brings a unique perspective into the design and engineering decisions made during the design process. While ensuring that a pole configuration or a substructure layout is compliant with applicable codes and standards such as GO 95 and GO 128, he also can foresee how construction will build and maintain it and apply that knowledge up-front to the initial design as well existing or third-party designs.
Mr. Jensen is Vice-President and Co-Owner of Pacific Energy Solutions. He has extensive experience in all aspects of utility work, from project management, design, line modeling, construction, estimating, and inspections. He is a journeyman lineman with over 26 years of experience in the utility industry, where he worked in increasing levels of responsibility, including lineman, crew foreman, and construction project manager. He then moved into the design field, where he taught himself on use of common design tools, including AutoCAD, O-CALC, and PLS-CADD. Mr. Jensen has Worked at various locations throughout the United States, under many different circumstances in varying weather conditions making him a highly adaptable and skilled designer and journeyman lineman with the ability to see and think outside the box.
Mr. Muench is Vice-President and Co-Owner of Pacific Energy Solutions. He is a California licensed Professional Engineer with 15 years of utility experience. He began his career in distribution design, where he was one of the first engineers in the country to use PLS-CADD modeling software for distribution applications, specifically in the wide-spread use of steel poles and fiberglass crossarms in fire-prone areas.
